GovTransfer was founded when we realized the law enforcement agencies had no good way to verify who was requesting records from them. The first thing we did was to request logs from 2 local law enforcement agencies of requests from the prior month. Our fears were immediately realized. Bad actors were posing as other law enforcement agencies to get unrestricted, unredacted, and free records.
